Broomwood Colts in cup finals
Tomorrow, Saturday 28th April, both the Broomwood Colts league teams will be playing in their respective age group cup finals. The matches take place in Norbury, the U10s playing at 10.30 and the U11s at 1pm. Results will be posted here.
You can also follow the teams in their league tables on the FA site. U11s here, U10s here. The season is just about over and the U11s have the opportunity to finish as runners up in the league for the second consecutive year. They will be playing one of their remaining league games on Wandsworth Common at 10am tomorrow (prior to going to their cup match) so why not come along early – all support welcome. – Jeremy
Fulham v Blackburn trip - final details
I have the tickets in hand now…so no last minute ’sold out’ announcements this time. The plan is for 2 coaches to take us to the ground in plenty of time to savour the pre-match ents which include betting on the number of bodyguards Al-Fayed uses as he walks across the pitch and pre-ordering as many Krispy Kremes as possible.
So a prompt getaway is essential.
Coaches will depart at 1.45 (this Saturday 21st) from the junction of Thurleigh Rd and Bolingbroke Grove. Tickets will be given out on the coach.
The seating is complicated - so if you want to sit with your kids please read on. If you don’t then no matter. Although we have been given 69 tickets in one block, because there are different prices for kids and adults they tend to allocate all the adult seats together and then all the child seats together so if you sit according to the tickets you get, your kids will possibly be a few rows in front. I will detail our block of seat numbers on the ticket envelopes. Please sit ANYWHERE WITHIN THIS BLOCK OF SEATS, regardless of what’s on your tickets.
After the game the coach will wait for us on Stevenage Road and then depart around 5pm. We should be back where we started by 5.30.
See you all at 1.45.
Tom

Broomwood FC has most popular season yet!
A big thanks to all you parents out there. This has been a fantastic season in many ways not least due to the highest number of children, ever, registering with the club - a massive 300 kids ranging from tiny tots, 4 years old, to lanky, grumpy teenagers of 13! This has drawn from a huge number of schools in fact 55 in total and from far a field as Camberwell, Parsons Green and Mitcham - well done to you die hard footballers.
Tooting League
Each season Broomwood enter a number of teams to the London Saturday Youth League. This is an FA-affiliated league that plays on Saturday mornings at Tooting Common. This season we have had two Broomwood Colts teams, an under 11 (ie year 6, managed by Robert) and an under 10 side (year 5, managed by Peter). Each play against teams of their own age-group and look like finishing at or near the top of their respective divisions this season. Both have also reached their age’s cup final, to be played April 28.
Next season Robert’s team will be disbanding while Peter’s team moves up to be under 11s. Having spent several years helping Robert with his team I am planning to start a new under 1o team, made up from players in this year’s year 4 group at Wandsworth. The team will consist of 11/12 players and will play from next September.

Fulham v Blackburn trip
We are now taking bookings for the trip to see Fulham play Blackburn on Sat 21st April. If the response to the last game is anything to go by, demand will be high and we’ll probably be able to fill 2 coaches.
Prices: Tickets are priced at £20 for adults and £5 for kids (prices include coach transport to and from the ground). Kick off is at 3pm.
To book: If you would like to book tickets please comfirm how many of each type you would like as soon as possible - at the very latest by midday on Friday 23rd next week. Please email your requirements to tom@3rdsense.com.
To pay: Payment preferably by cheque (please put number of adult and child tickets on the back) and can be given to Tom on Saturday. Please make cheques payable to Broomwood FC. If you can’t make Saturday please send cheques to Tom at 28 Henderson Road, SW18 3RR.
Still doubtful? Can’t think of a reason to see Blackburn play? Really? Well, they are blessed with some fine individual talents - David Bentley, Benni McCarthy and Matt Derbyshire - and by April 21st will probably be focussing on the league, following a scrappy FA Cup exit to Chelski the week before. Fulham, of course, are always great value when the tickets are a fiver. See here for some Blackburn magic.
vs Dulwich Wanderers - 30 goals in an hour!
On 10th March Broomwood FC continued their ascent into the local football fame books with an impressive set of wins across the board against Dulwich Park Wanderers. Two U9 and one U11 squads dominated the morning’s proceedings. As captain of one of the year 4 teams Charlie White commented….”we were all over them” with William Hawkes equally emphatic over how his team performed…”magic! I just can’t believe it!”
Full credit to the Dulwich team for putting up with the onslaught and never dropping their heads… “they were a tough team” suggested Sam Gueterbock… “but they were not a match for us!”
Head coach Phillip Saunders agreed and gave credit to the teams “everyone showed true grit and determination and I look forward to the next contest in a few weeks time! Well done teams”
Scores
Charlie White’s U9s team 13-1
William Hawkes’s U9s team 11-1
Ben Allen’s U11s team 6-1
