New season kick-off
The new 2009/10 season kicks off this Saturday, September 5th at the usual time of 10.30. The subscription for the season (Sept-May) is £30.
New members will need to complete a registration form and bring this to the registration desk this weekend along with a cheque for £30 (payable to ‘Broomwood FC’) for each child. Existing members do not need to complete a form but will need to confirm their existing details are correct and pay their subscription. Registration will take place over the first few weeks of the season - please try and bring completed forms/cheques with you to save time. You must be registered to play.
Note that you are not able to leave your children unattended by yourself or a guardian. This is a volunteer-run club, and we do not have the necessary status to care for unsupervised children. Children who are found to be there unattended will be de-registered and not allowed to take part for the season – no exceptions.
Because the club is run by volunteer parents we can only survive with new helpers joining each year. We always welcome extra help either reffing, building goals, baking cakes or collecting rubbish afterwards. We have 300 children of many ages, and the number of helpers per year group is too low at the moment. Please do not hesitate to step forward – you will get a very warm response, and maybe even your own whistle.
AGM Minutes
Thanks to all those that were able to make it last month. Minutes available below as a pdf.

Broomwood FC 2008-09
The Broomwood FC new season starts again on Saturday September 6th at 10:30 am*, in the usual place on Wandsworth Common. For newcomers, note that you simply need to turn up at the common (in plenty of time) ready for the children’s line up and game allocation.
Registration will take place over the first few weeks. You must be registered to play, and you must pay as you register – cheque (to Broomwood FC) or cash. The registration fee for the year to May 2009 will be £30**.
Note that you are not able to leave your children unattended by yourself or a guardian. This is a voluntary run club, and we do not have the status for drop offs. Children who are found to be there unattended will be de-registered and not allowed to take part for the season – no exceptions.
Also note, this is a club which will only survive with parental involvement. We need you to be on the pitch, helping co-ordinate, helping the head coaches, and even with registration, equipment and events. We have 300 children of many ages, and the amount of helpers per year group is too low at the moment. Please do not hesitate to step forward – you will get a very warm response, and maybe even your own whistle.
Currently, we know we need:
• Additional Reception/Under 5 assistant coaches (you do not need to be qualified at all, simply keen)
• Additional Year 6,7 and 8 assistant coaches/refs (again, experience not necessary, though some rules knowledge useful)
• Equipment rota volunteers (especially to return equipment to garage)
• Registration helpers (to help in the first busy weeks)
Do write your name down at registration if you would like to get more involved. Or contact us if you have any queries.
* Note for organisers is that we will be there on Saturday August 30th at 10:30 am to do a soft start with a selection of last years children to sort out kit and pitch allocations.
** For those boys who are members of our league teams, there will be an additional £35 to cover team related costs.
Broomwood FC kicks off again this weekend (September 8)
As for previous years, we will be organising games for boys and girls aged 4-12 and kids will normally play with others from their respective school year or two years combined. There will be a subscription fee of £25 for the season for playing on the Common. Registrations are taken only on the Wandsworth Common on match days, so please just come to the Common (across from top of Morella Road) as shown on this previous post, rather than trying to register beforehand or by mail. We normally have space for all interested, especially if you arrive before Christmas. KO is 1030.
We always need, and encourage, parents to come forward to help run the club. The club is not commercial and all the organisers are parent volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved as a ref/coach or just helping out in general, then please make yourself known at registration. There’s plenty to do and it is hugely rewarding. As in every year, if we don’t get more volunteers and helpers, we are far less able to run the quantity of games and events which make the Club run so well, and as in every year, some parents have left and some are running one of the 3 competitive teams at Tooting, so we need others to step up.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Any issues please do not hesitate to contact us. Send a mail to neil.backyard@btinternet.com or call on 07887 973976.
See you then
Broomwood FC has most popular season yet!
A big thanks to all you parents out there. This has been a fantastic season in many ways not least due to the highest number of children, ever, registering with the club - a massive 300 kids ranging from tiny tots, 4 years old, to lanky, grumpy teenagers of 13! This has drawn from a huge number of schools in fact 55 in total and from far a field as Camberwell, Parsons Green and Mitcham - well done to you die hard footballers.
